VIETNAM DESTINATIONS

VIETNAM GENERAL INFORMATION
Although many westerners still imagine Vietnam through the lens of war, it is in reality a country filled with captivating natural beauty and tranquil village life. Its highlands and rainforest region far from being devastated continue to yield new species with exotic wildlife. Its islands and beaches are among the finest in all of Southeast Asia, and its cuisine is very possibly the most delicious you will ever find. Over three decades have passed since Vietnam was officially united, and in that time, it has done a remarkable job of healing its wounds. Today, this gracious and graceful country is an outstanding travel destination.

Visa
Visitors must obtain Visa approval prior to entry. Hola Vietnam can arrange visas at reduced cost for visitors who book on of our tours. The procedures are as follow:

  • Passport details, arrival and departure dates are faxed or emailed to Hola Vietnam not later than 30 days before passengers’ departure to Vietnam.

  • Hola Vietnam submits details to the Immigration Department

  • The Immigration Department notifies Hola Vietnam of visa approval and sends a fax/telex approval to the Embassy or Consulate in the country of visitors’ residence.

  • Hola Vietnam sends a fax/ email copy of the approval to the agent or individual concerned.

  • Important: Visitors can obtain a visa upon arrival in Vietnam. However, we recommend this option only in cases of emergency as it much more expensive than a regular visa service.
    Visa Exemption: Only apply to Vietnamese people, who should get the authorised Visa Exemption before arrive in Vietnam.

    Arrival in Vietnam
    If you have not arranged a Hola Vietnam representative to meet you at the airport, here is what you should do:

  • In Ho Chi Minh City: Tan Son Nhat airport is about 7km northwest of the city center. The best way to get into the city is to take a taxi. Pick a metered taxi outside the terminal and the journey should cost between USD 7 to USD 10.

  • In Hanoi: Hanoi’s Noi Bai airport is approximately 35km north of the city. A taxi into the city is usually set around US$ 20. This figure can arranged in advance and therefore no meter is necessary. Do agree the price before setting foot inside the taxi, this is normally roughly VND 300,000.

  • Travel Insurance
    Hola Vietnam will do everything possible to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. However, certain risks are involved and should be recognised by participants. We highly recommend the purchase of travel insurance before your travel. It is to protect yourself, and your belongings in the event of problems due to: trip cancellation, delays, medical problems, baggage loss or damage.

    Immunization
    Before travelling to Vietnam, it is important for the visitor to have the right protection against diseases and to understand fully what type of vaccinations that will be needed according to the regions he/she will be visiting. For general protection for visitors to Vietnam, it is important to have the following vaccinations:

  • Hepatisis A and B

  • Tetanus

  • Typhoid

  • Currency Exchange & Banking
    The official currency is Vietnamese Dong (VND).
    Exchange Rate for the following currencies has approximately estimated:
    1 USD = VND 19,100
    1 EUR = VND 26,500
    1 GBP = VND 30,000

    Currency Notes :

    Vietnamese Dong is non-convertible outside Vietnam.

    Banking: ATM services are available 24 hours from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City such as ANZ Bank, HSBC Bank, Vietcom Bank, Techcom Bank. Visa and Master cards are also acceptable at some places.

    Climate & Weather Chart
    Climate in Vietnam is generally hot and humid during the summer throughout the country, however, in other seasons, temperature may fluctuate in various regions of the country.

    The South (HCMC to Can Tho)

    Hot all year round, and has two seasons: wet and dry. Wet season duration is from May to October with expecting daily downpours. Dry season duration is from November to April which is generally sunny and humid.

    The Center (Nha Trang to Hue)

    Beautiful sunshine at Nha Trang beach, but there will be heavy rain between November and December. Da Lat is cooler all year round. Danang and Hue – both experience typhoon activity from mid October to mid December when the climate becomes cooler, more overcast and wet.

    The North (Hanoi to Sapa)

    Should have four seasons. Summer season from May to October with an average temperatures around 30-35C. Lowest temperature in winter should be around 10-15C, this is around December to March. February and March can be damp with drizzle and overcast skies.

    HANOI CAPITAL. It is a millenniums charming city and an ambiance "Chinese style" street crowded with small shops, bicycles and motorbikes in a seemingly chaotic traffic but with a unique charm, there are the Temple of Literature, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the lake of the Returned Sword among other things. A city to stroll.

    SAPA. A 450 kms from Hanoi and 1,600 m. altitude where you can enjoy its colorful market and mainly indigenous tribes as H'mong, Dzay in their colorful traditional costumes and spectacular mountain scenery with paddy in scale.

    HALONG BAY. One of the great wonders of nature. Thousands of islands that arise from the emerald waters of the bay including life on the water fishing and stunning coves give added value. From all of this is enjoyed for an unforgettable cruise.

    DA NANG. Situated in the heartland, where the famous beach of China Beach, Marble Mountain and Cham Museum. This city is the base to visit:

    MYSON: 60 km from Danang and the cradle of the Cham civilization. Immersed in the weeds are 68 Hindu temples built between the XIII to IV centuries.

    HOIAN: One of the most delightful villages of Vietnam, where neither the time nor the war have passed. Streets full of mausoleums, shops of Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese craft centers along a river where the old watch fishing methods. One of its wonders is the Japanese covered wooden bridge. An authentic place.

    HUE. Former imperial capital where the length of Imperial City and style were similar to the Forbidden City in Beijing. Full of life and traveled by the Perfume River, where a river cruise brings us to see temples and tombs of great beauty. Unforgettable.

    NHA TRANG. For the Vietnamese resort town because of its beaches and islands that offer a relaxing time.

    QUY NHON – PHAN THIET – MUI NE. Places of quiet beach and dunes where you can relax or enjoy the beach and water sports.

    HO CHI MINH (Saigon). Economic and financial capital totally different from the rest of the country, where the Cathedral of Notre Dame. The Cholon Chinese market offers us a totally different perspective of the Vietnamese lifestyle. It is the base to visit:

    CUCHI TUNNELS, where the Vietcong dug hundreds of miles underground during the war.

    TAY NINH, where the sect has its Caodai temple and its headquarters. Worship including Joan of Arc, Buddha and Jesus Christ.

    DELTA MEKONG, where thousands of km2. and a maze of branches of the Mekong are an impressive spectacle in which markets and houseboats are one of the main means of livelihood, along with rice cultivation in this community. A show that advise you not to miss for its colorful and exotic.
